I was inspired to write this article by a conversation with recent graduates of the Master’s program in Mechanical and Equipment Design and one student of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Liberec, who visited our company on a field trip. The ten young people represented two continents—Africa and Europe. I assumed that a building system for wooden structures wouldn’t interest them much, since it has nothing to do with the mechanical engineering they studied. Surprisingly, it did. I took advantage of the environmental engineering student’s presence and presented the conclusions of a thesis written by a student at the Czech Technical University in Prague, which examined the environmental impact of selected building systems. The lively discussion that followed confirmed that environmental issues are a top priority for the next generation. In this article, I would therefore like to present the results of the aforementioned thesis.
